For the first time in a few years, the Golden State Warriors look like they are especially vulnerable during their path to a third straight championship.
The Dubs have won three of the last four championships, and have looked extremely dominant along the way.
However, this year, the Warriors are 26-14 and have several bad losses before the All-Star Break has even arrived.
Former Warrior Matt Barnes identified what he thinks is the problem with the team on 95.7 The Game:
“If I have one concern, it’s that their bench hasn’t been as strong as it’s been in the past. So these guys really have to figure out on the fly where they can be most effective at.”
Barnes might have a point. The Warriors have no one off their bench averaging double digits. Their highest scorer is Quinn Cook, who is averaging 7.6 points. Following him is Jonas Jerebko, who is averaging 7.5 points.
These scoring numbers are not good enough if the Warriors want to win a three-peat. If the bench doesn't produce, they need the starters to carry a massive scoring load.
Thankfully, the Warriors have solutions to the problem above. DeMarcus Cousins is on the way, and he will certainly provide a scoring punch.
Additionally, the Warriors have Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, and Klay Thompson, who are more than capable of handling a large portion of the scoring.
The Warriors may look a little shaky right now, but they have a tendency to turn it on in the playoffs.
As long as they lock in a top-four seed, they will be extremely difficult to beat four out of seven times.
