Ahead by a much larger margin than they've had the entire game, the Golden State Warriors tried to survive a comeback after falling in a 21-point hole against a capable New Orleans Pelicans team playing without talisman Anthony Davis with a left adductor strain.
Stephen Curry, in true maverick way, gambled for a steal in the dying seconds of the game, but paid a costly price for it — rolling his surgically-repaired right ankle to a nearly-horrifying angle after stepping onto E'Twaun Moore's shoe, one that he called a “dumb play.”

“Obviously a sucky situation,” Curry said, according to Mark Medina of the San Jose Mercury News. “But I’ll be back.”

Asked for his thoughts immediately after walking off the court, Curry was his usual candid self.
“I had to call my dad and tell him I can’t play golf tomorrow in Charlotte,” Curry said. “I’m just playing.”
The injury looked bad enough to miss several games, judging by the eye test, meaning the team will have to finish out a testy last two games of the road trip against the Hornets on Wednesday and the Detroit Pistons on Friday.
Even if Curry's injury is not as grave as it looked, the Warriors will play utmost cautious with their $201 million investment and give him at least Wednesday off to rest his ankle and the right-hand contusion he's played through the last four games with.
