Duke basketball reloaded this offseason with one of the most insane recruiting classes in recent hoops memory. The Duke basketball program reeled in all-world recruit Cooper Flagg, the No. 1-overall prospect in the country according to 247Sports.com,

The Blue Devils also added top-40 prospect Darren Harris and No. 4-overall recruit Khaman Maluach from the NBA Academy Africa.

On Friday afternoon, the Duke men's basketball Twitter account let the world know the latest update about Harris, who suffered an injury that could throw a wrench in his plans to contribute this season with the Devils.

The Harris news came amid a shoutout for Jayson Tatum, the Celtics star who led Boston to the NBA championship. Meanwhile, one of Duke basketball coach Jon Scheyer's NBA Draft hopefuls revealed his Victor Wembanyama focused plan for his upcoming NBA career.

Harris' injury was also given a prognosis that Duke fans should know heading into a crucial offseason for the venerable Atlantic Coast Conference program.

Harris had surgery on Tuesday at the Duke Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina and is on track for a full recovery, the Duke men's basketball account on X said.

Harris is a 6-foot-6, 195-pound small forward from Fairfax, Va., whom fans had high hopes for as a complementary player to Flagg and the rest of Scheyer's team.

Fans react to freshman's injury 

Fans were in quite the emotional mood after the injury and understandably so based on Harris' talent. It's never good to see a young man with so much potential forced to undergo surgery and an injury this early in his career, but Duke basketball fans are doing their best to react with authenticity and to let the emotions out while they have the chance.

“Ugh…At least non-shooting,” another fan added.

“Praying for a speedy recovery,” another fan added with a heart emoji and a pair of praying hands for coach Jon Scheyer's prized recruit.

A highlight video of Harris posted to Twitter shows a player with great court vision and a team-first approach. His loss will be felt by the Duke basketball team, that much is for certain.
