On Sunday, Michigan Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard appeared to throw a punch at an opposing assistant coach during their loss to the Wisconsin Badgers. A massive scrum between the teams then broke out, with tensions high. Sunday afternoon, former Wolverine football player Desmond Howard came to the defense of Michigan's coach.
I saw Juwan walking away and Wisconsin coach put his hands on him to stop. First mistake. Then an ass't coach inserted himself and said something that only escalated things. Let bosses be bosses and play your position. Second mistake.

With 15 seconds remaining and Wisconsin beating Michigan, 76-61, the Badgers head coach Greg Gard called timeout. That appeared to anger Juwan Howard. During the handshake line, Howard and Gard were seen having words. Gard placed his hand on Howard's arms and Howard responded pushing Gard away.

The prompted the incident to really explode as players from both teams began pushing and shoving, with more punches thrown. Things were eventually deescalated as the Wolverines players headed to the locker room under a chorus of boos.
Gard responded after the game saying he called the timeout to avoid his bench players being unable to cross half-court before a 10-second violation. Nevertheless, Juwan Howard clearly took exception as the situation exploded.
The Badgers are in the middle of a conference title race with Purdue and Illinois. Meanwhile, the Wolverines are having a deflating season at 14-11.
