The Michigan State Spartans don't have time to playing games on the mean streets of Twitter with the college basketball season basically here. Tom Izzo seems happy about it, too. How do we know this? Well, I'm glad you asked; though, to be clear, it's mostly because they literally told us.

Over the summer, several Michigan State players began to tweet various versions of “later” in a rather short period of time.

“See you in April, 2020,” Thomas Kithier wrote.

“Gettin of Twitter for a lil,” said Malik Hall.

“Gonna be a fun year with my dawgs! See y’all April 7th,” Foster Loyer tweeted.

It appears as though the dates mention would suggest a direct connection to the NCAA Tournament. And guess what, pal? It is. With the Michigan State Spartans entering the season once again expected to be good and to make a run at the Final Four, players admitted this social media blackout was to block out the noise.

“Focus on you, focus on your teammates, focus on your family and don't really worry about what other people are thinking about you,” Spartans junior forward Xavier Tillman said, via MLive, explaining the decision.

Naturally, Tom Izzo loves the move.

“I don't like when they read what everybody says, I think that screws up more kids, I really do,” Izzo said. “It screws up more people.”

The Michigan State Spartans, not inherently due to the basketball program, has been the focus of plenty of scandal the last few years. One can understand why kids who had nothing to do with any of it would like to keep the noise out.
