Former UConn Huskies head coach Kevin Ollie was fired by the university in June of 2018 for NCAA violations that included improper training sessions and improper contact with recruits. The UConn case went to an independent arbitrator, who made a shocking ruling on the university's Ollie firing, via ESPN.

An independent arbitrator has ruled that UConn improperly fired former men's basketball coach Kevin Ollie and must pay him more than $11 million, Ollie's lawyer said Thursday.

As reported by ESPN, the arbitrator ruled that UConn improperly fired former head coach Kevin Ollie and must pay him more than $11 million. Ollie's attorney called the ruling in the UConn case a “total vindication” for the former Huskies leader.

UConn must pay the amount due to Ollie in the next 10 business days. The university, expectedly, says that it “vigorously disagrees” with the arbitrator's decision.

UConn was placed on probation and Ollie was individually sanctioned for alleged interactions with recruits involving former NBA star and Huskies alum Ray Allen.

The university spoke further on the case, saying that the ruling encourages further head coaches to break the rules. Ollie, who went 127-79 in six seasons with the Huskies, thanked his legal team in a statement.

A scandalous NCAA case involving the firing of former Huskies head coach Kevin Ollie has seemingly come to an end.
