Following SMU's 42-34 win over TCU, chaos unraveled as the visiting Mustangs attempted to go out and plant a flag right on midfield by the Horned Frogs logo.
TCU was not happy, particularly head coach Gary Patterson, who sounded off on the incident, per the Fort Worth Star Telegram.
“You don't think it was planned?” Patterson said of the flag-planting attempt. “They had a media person from their office that was out filming the flag getting set in the middle of the field. … A guy [Kill] got hurt. He got pushed down by our kids once on film in the middle of it, and he got hit, because I've got the proof to show it.
“At the end of the day, whether it's SMU, TCU, I can't substantiate it. But at the end of the day, it wouldn't have happened if we didn't have the flag situation.”
SMU athletic director Rick Hart pushed back, verbally, on the claims from the TCU head coach that this was pre-planned by the Mustangs.

This is a complete fabrication,” Hart said in his statement. “I can state unequivocally that there was no such plan.”
SMU head coach Sonny Dykes declined to comment specifically but did mention nobody has as much respect for TCU or Patterson as he does. Dykes spent one year at TCU as an offensive analyst in 2017.

Oh wow.
