Mike Krzyzewski just led the Duke Blue Devils to another Final Four appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and so naturally, the praises came pouring in. However, Coach K doesn't want to hear any of it, even if it's coming from his players like star guard Paolo Banchero.
After Duke took down Arkansas in their Elite Eight showdown, Coach K was interviewed about the game and his insights on their win and the NCAA Tournament so far. While speaking, though, Banchero crashed the interview to say that the veteran tactician is the GOAT (greatest of all time) in college sports.
In usual Krzyzewski fashion, the Duke coach responded: “No, no. Shut up.”
Here's a look at the funny interaction:
That's typical Coach K for you. But to be fair, the 75-year-old has certainly made a case as the GOAT or at least one of the greatest to ever to do it.
With their win over Arkansas, Krzyzewski became now has the most Final Four appearances in NCAA Tournament history, surpassing John Wooden for the honor. Making things even better? He is the first coach in Division I history to reach a Final Four in five different decades.
With the culture he has established in Duke and his consistency in winning, Paolo Banchero is not simply hyping his coach for calling him the GOAT.
It is Mike Krzyzewski's final run with Duke in the NCAA Tournament, and it sure looks like the Blue Devils are making the most of it.
