Nets star Blake Griffin’s perfect tribute to comedy legend Norm Macdonald

Nets, Blake Griffin, Norm Macdonald

Influential actor and comedian Norm Macdonald passed away Tuesday at the age of 61 after a long battle with cancer. Brooklyn Nets forward Blake Griffin, who had a good relationship with the legendary comic, made sure to honor him and pay tribute to his legacy.

Perhaps in the most fitting tribute, Griffin recalled his fondest memory with Macdonald during his rookie year. The Nets forward posted a clip of him in a press conference, during which the late actor and comedian hilariously asked about his chances of repeating as a Rookie of the Year.

Classic Norm!

Griffin, for his part, captioned the tweet, saying it’s his “favorite press conference moment ever.”

True enough, it was a hilarious moment that Blake Griffin and Norm Macdonald shared. No wonder why the Nets star hasn’t even forgotten about it even though it has already been over a decade.

Macdonald’s passing came as a shock to everyone, as he dealt with his cancer privately–away from his family, friends and fans. According to his producing partner and good friend Lori Jo Hoekstra, the comedian had  been fighting cancer for nearly a decade before he succumbed to it.

While it is truly tragic and unfortunate, Griffin will certainly always remember the icon. The Nets star himself has dived into stand-up comedy, and what better way to honor Macdonald than to remember his work and grow the industry he was a big part of.
