Brooklyn Nets center DeAndre Jordan says superstar small forward Kevin Durant is “progressing great” in his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon.

Durant is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season. Jordan, who is very close friends with Durant, says the two-time Finals MVP is “recovering fast.”

“We've got a lot of talent on this team,” Jordan told Jen Chung of Gothamist. “You know obviously Kevin had a tough injury, he's going to be out for a while, but he's progressing great, he's recovering fast, we'll be even better when we get him back and healthy.”

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving took less than the max so the Nets could sign DeAndre Jordan. The high-flyer signed a four-year, $40 million deal with Brooklyn. KD, Kyrie and DeAndre are really good friends.

Jordan split time last season with the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks. He averaged 11.0 points, 13.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocks while shooting 64.1 percent from the field and a career-high 70.5 percent from the free-throw line.

It’s unclear if Jordan is going to start for the Nets or back up Jarrett Allen. Either way, Brooklyn made a great move by signing Jordan, who has career averages of 9.6 points and 10.9 rebounds.

The Nets will be title contenders once Durant returns to the floor. Until then, Brooklyn figures to be a top-three team in the East.
