Kevin Durant did not take long to announce where he will play the next chapter of his career. Immediately at the start of free agency, Durant took to Instagram on his company account, The Boardroom, to share that he has agreed to sign with the Brooklyn Nets on a four-year max contract.

Needless to say, this came as a bit of a shock to many fans and media members. Most had thought Durant would either re-sign with the Golden State Warriors or take his talents to the New York Knicks. Instead, the Nets are now getting Durant and superstar point guard Kyrie Irving.

Brooklyn will also sign star center DeAndre Jordan to help round out a “big three.”

Durant is going to miss the entire 2019-20 season due to the torn Achilles that he suffered in the NBA Finals. Golden State also lost Klay Thompson to a torn ACL. Losing Durant certainly sets them back in a big way moving forward.

It will be interesting to see what else the Nets have in store for this offseason. Garrett Temple has also reportedly agreed to a two-year, $10 million contract with the Nets to add much-needed depth.

Expect to hear plenty more about Durant and the Nets in the coming days. We will have all the fallout of this massive decision as more information is revealed.
