Kevin Durant took a major decision by choosing to leave the Golden State Warriors and look for a future with the Brooklyn Nets. The former MVP noted his reasons in a few interviews over the summer, but chose to sum it down to him choosing to do what's best for himself.

“I just did it,” said Durant during Friday's opening press conference, according to Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic. “I didn't really think about what I was leaving behind or what we accomplished. I put that up on the shelf already. When it was time to make a decision on my future I thought solely about me.”

Durant will be asked to justify his decision until the end of time, given that he left a team at the apex of its powers to play with two of his friends in the opposite coast. Some, including Hall of Famer Magic Johnson have questioned the state of his reasoning, hoping he's able to find the happiness he so direly seeks, considering he wasn't able to find it in a team that was considered basketball's nirvana.

It seems Durant wants to move on from the decision-making process and just attack his rehabilitation in hopes to tune himself back to the assassin he had been during his last three years with the Warriors. Durant was arguably at the peak of his powers during the last three championship runs and his unfortunate injury will put a pause on his trajectory for the time being, as he's now expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season.
