Spencer Dinwiddie is playing like someone worthy of All-Star recognition, but there is no better praise than the thought coming from a perennial All-Star stud like Kobe Bryant. The longtime Los Angeles Lakers icon told the Brooklyn Nets floor general he was “playing like an All-Star” before he went on to drop 39 points on the struggling Atlanta Hawks, according to Michael Scotto of Bleacher Report.

Dinwiddie is now averaging 22.7 points and 6.2 assists on the season — numbers that are well-worth an All-Star nod. While starter Kyrie Irving might make the list of starters due to his sheer exposure, Dinwiddie has actually started more games for the Nets than their prized offseason acquisition, while taking part in every game of the 2019-20 campaign.

More importantly, since starting the season 4-7 with Irving at the controls, Dinwiddie has led the Nets to a 12-6 record — propelling them back into playoff contention, now cemented into the seventh spot, four games ahead of the Orlando Magic.

The East might have some great potential All-Star nods at the guard position like Kemba Walker, Ben Simmons, Kyle Lowry, and even Irving (by default), but Dinwiddie deserves a chance to get his first All-Star nod after working his way out of the G League and bursting into the NBA once again, this time with a bolstered knowledge of the point guard position and what it entails.

The Nets are in playoff contention largely due to Dinwiddie's performance this season, and if that wasn't enough, Bryant always knows an All-Star when he sees one.
