Brooklyn Nets All-Star Kyrie Irving made some interesting remarks earlier this week, claiming that his team needs “a piece or two” to complement certain players on the roster. The former No. 1 overall pick even went as far as naming the players who need to be complemented, causing a bit of a stir in the media.

“Collectively, I feel like we have great pieces, but it's pretty glaring we need one more piece or two more pieces that will complement myself, [Kevin Durant], DJ (DeAndre Jordan), GT (Garrett Temple), Spence [Dinwiddie], Caris [LeVert], and we'll see how that evolves,” Irving said, via ESPN.

After realizing the nature of his comments, Irving has decided to apologize to his Nets teammates, noting that he “didn't mean to single anyone out.”

Brooklyn is going to be a formidable team — once the stars on the team are fully healthy. Kevin Durant, who joined the Nets prior to the start of this season, is expected to miss all of this campaign as he recovers from an Achilles injury. Irving missed time this season due to injury as well, but he's since returned to action.

Irving played fairly well in Wednesday night's 117-106 loss to the Sixers, though he did have a plus/minus rating of -29. He logged 37 minutes, racking up 14 points on 6-of-21 shooting from the field (1-of-2 from beyond the arc), six rebounds, four assists, two steals and one block.

The Nets will be back in action on Saturday, when they'll serve as hosts to the Milwaukee Bucks. Tip-off inside the Barclays Center is set for 6:00 p.m. ET, with NBA TV having live broadcast coverage.
