Kyrie Irving has been having a wild 2021 – 22 season. The Brooklyn Nets star has been a pretty controversial figure due to his stance about the COVID-19 vaccine and the ramifications of that on his playing time. However, when he's been able to step on the court, he's still the same dazzling ballhandler and scorer.

Case in point: his explosion against the defending champions Milwaukee Bucks. Without Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons, Kyrie stepped up to the plate and delivered, scoring 38 huge points to power them to a win. It's Irving's best game this season, and it came at a time the Nets absolutely needed it.

Irving's part-time status with the Nets has been the subject of controversy in the last few years. Vaccine protocols in New York prohibited the star to play in home games, and he was initially left out of the roster completely. However, due to numerous roster hits, they activated Irving to be able to play in away games.

It's unclear whether Irving will be able to play in Brooklyn any time soon. New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicating that a shift in vaccine mandates is on the horizon. Hopefully for the Nets, that comes sooner rather than later. With Durant and Simmons battling some nagging injuries, they will need their star point guard to be available at all times, whether it's a home or away game.
