Back in 2016, the Detroit Pistons traded away Spencer Dinwiddie. Now that the former Pistons guard is with the Brooklyn Nets, it must have felt nice for the Colorado product to get some measure of payback against Detroit during Sunday's 101-100 win in Motor City.

Per Brian Lewis of The New York Post.

“Let's just be real here. I start my career off here, for lack of a better word I was essentially cut,. So how would y'all feel?” Dinwiddie said, as per The New York Post. “It was bigger than me obviously. We're a young team to continue to build off these types of wins, get wins in opponents' arenas, win on the road, close out games, when they make a push to get stops. So it's much, much bigger than me. But if you're talking about how I personally feel, how would y'all feel?”

Spencer Dinwiddie's game-winner was the cherry on the top of his overall solid performance against Detroit, pacing his team with 22 points to go with four rebounds and five assists.

And it wasn't just Dinwiddie who was looking for payback. The entire Nets team desperately wanted to win the game because of the 114-80 beating they got from the Pistons in front of their home crowd on Jan. 10.

“Your old team [always means more],” said Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson. “The other one is these guys beat us by 50 or whatever they beat us by at home. There's a certain pride you have to have not to let that happen again. So, it's nice to come back on the road and get it back.”

Dinwiddie may have had the last laugh on Sunday against the team that traded him away, but he has some final remarks on the matter.

“For the betterment of my career I kind of needed to move on. No hard feelings.”
