The Brooklyn Nets may not be considered favorites to win an NBA title until Kevin Durant returns from his Achilles injury, but Taurean Prince is not waiting around for Durant in his quest to help the Nets win a title.

Prince spoke to reporters on Sunday about having a sense of urgency and setting lofty goals for the 2019-20 season.

Prince might just be one of the most underappreciated pickups of this NBA offseason. The Nets acquired the 25-year-old forward in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks, a move that actually gave Brooklyn a second max cap slot and allowed them to chase both Durant and Kyrie Irving in the first place.

But aside from the salary cap implications, Prince is a guy that could be an immediate impact player for the Nets, and he fits in perfectly with the team's identity.

In his third season, Prince averaged 13.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game while shooting close to 40 percent from the 3-point line. His shooting ability in addition to his size and length on the wing are perfect compliments to playmakers like Irving and Caris LeVert.

Prince and the rest of his Nets teammates will have to make tremendous strides on the defensive side of the ball if they hope to compete for a championship. Prince registered a defensive rating of 115 per 100 possessions last year.

Can Brooklyn showcase enough offensive firepower and defensive growth to make a run in an unpredictable Eastern Conference? It is certainly possible, but guys such as Prince must make a leap in order for the Nets to win a title this season.
