The NBA City Edition jerseys are designed specifically for each city and the Brooklyn Nets once again chose to honor one of its most recognizable figures.

The Nets unveiled their latest threads for the 2019-20 NBA regular season, which was once again inspired by New York rapper Christopher Wallace, better known as “The Notorious B.I.G.” and “Biggie Smalls”.

Much like last year’s design, the multi-color “Brooklyn Camo” pattern runs down the sides of the jersey & shorts and also extends along the neck and arm trim.

According to an article from NBA.com, the diverse color pallet represents the “Brooklyn swagger” and the cultural diversity in New York, which is home to people of all races, religions, and ethnicities.

The jersey also features the words “Bed Stuy” emblazoned in the chest area – which represent Brooklyn’s infamous Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, the home of Biggie.

The uniforms were designed by renowned Brooklyn artist Eric Haze, who was also responsible for the team’s 2019-20 Statement Edition kits. The team unveiled the jersey during an exclusive party at The Brooklyn Bank in Bed Stuy on Thursday, which also featured a tribute mural of Biggie.

The Nets, meanwhile, has experienced a major revamp this year, swapping emerging star D’Angelo Russell for superstar Kevin Durant. They also signed Kyrie Irving, who has already broken franchise scoring records in just his first 11 games in a Nets jersey.

The Nets have been inconsistent this season so far, alternating wins and losses for a 6-8 slate. The team is currently ranked seventh in the Eastern Conference and is scheduled to face the Sacramento Kings on Friday.
