The Brooklyn Nets have released guard Greivis Vasquez, who needs ankle surgery, and intend to sign point guard Yogi Ferrell, who was the last cut before finalizing the 15-man roster, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

Ferrell had been preparing to play for the Long Island Nets, their D-League affiliate. He's expected to suit up tonight against their crosstown rivals, the New York Knicks.

The Indiana alum is a spark plug on offense, and while young, can provide a scoring punch and some much-needed three-point shooting.

The 6-foot guard could be looking at immediate minutes with the injury to starter Jeremy Lin and Randy Foye easing his way back from a hamstring injury.
