Brooklyn Nets second-year forward Rodions Kurucs is reportedly gaining some attention as a potential trade target. ESPN's Bobby Marks reports at least two teams are “spending resources to conduct a full background check” on the young forward to determine if he's a worthwhile trade target.

While Kurucs showed some flashes in his rookie season with averages of 8.5 points and 3.9 rebounds in 20.5 minutes per game, he was arrested following domestic violence allegations over the summer, and the case is still ongoing. The 6-foot-9 forward has not had a good season thus far for the Nets, averaging just 9.9 minutes per contest in 10 appearances. He has also spent time in the G League.

These issues are why possible suitors are performing background checks on Kurucs. The 21-year-old may still have an intriguing skill set and untapped potential, but what may be holding teams back are his potentially disruptive issues outside the basketball court.

The Nets selected Kurucs with the 40th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. Brooklyn may have liked what it saw out of the 21-year-old last season, but his off-the-court issues and current struggles on the court could have him as an odd man out. If any team is willing to give up an asset for him, the Nets may be willing to pounce on the opportunity.
