Other teams with interest in Kyrie Irving are reportedly operating as if the Brooklyn Nets are the odds-on favorite to land him this summer, according to Ian Begley of SNY. This past week has brought numerous rumors suggesting Irving is going to sign with Brooklyn.
According to BetOnline.ag, the New York Knicks are still the favorite to land Irving, but only by a small margin over the Nets.
Irving grew up in New Jersey and was a Nets fan as a kid. Brooklyn can sign two max contract players this offseason after clearing cap space by trading away Allen Crabbe, though it would cost them D'Angelo Russell. It is widely believed Irving will try to convince Kevin Durant to join him on the Nets.
Irving becomes an unrestricted free agent once he declines his 2019-20 player option with the Boston Celtics. Unless the Celtics trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar big man Anthony Davis, the odds of Irving re-signing with Boston are very low.

Brooklyn made the playoffs this season and has a bright future with general manager Sean Marks and head coach Kenny Atkinson in charge. The Knicks, meanwhile, have been a walking disaster for years. They finished with the worst record in the NBA this season.
