D'Angelo Russell is on a mission to lead the Brooklyn Nets to the playoffs this year, and he is doing everything in his power to help the team rack up much-needed wins.

So far, he's having a great game against the visiting San Antonio Spurs, including a highlight play over LaMarcus Aldridge.

That's some pretty awesome way to score despite being well-defended.

Entering Monday's showdown with the Spurs, D'Angelo Russell is averaging 20.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game for the Nets. He is also shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 37.0 percent from deep and 82.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Brooklyn, who has 21 games remaining, would want to win as many games possible to have a better position heading into the postseason. They are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.

Pretty much like the Nets, the Spurs are also a team that would want a positive momentum heading into the playoffs. Unfortunately, they have lost their last two games, with their most recent defeat coming at the hands of the cellar-dwelling New York Knicks.

Unlike Brooklyn, San Antonio is playing in the loaded Western Conference, and another  loss tonight could put a major blow in their playoff aspirations. The Spurs are currently the seventh best team in the West.
