The recent Pokemon Presents live stream has concluded, and with it comes the announcement of the new features in Pokemon Legends Arceus. The game takes place in the Hisui region, but way back in the past. The official trailer bills it as “a tale of a time long ago when the lives of humans and Pokemon were still separate.”

The new features in Pokemon Legends Arceus

The latest trailer for the game showed off the game's vast open-world, along with the myriad of traversal options. It appears as if players can look forward to riding Pokemon to cross bodies of water, use them as a mount, and even fly.

Another one of the new features in Pokemon Legends Arceus is the revamped battle system. There's a new “style” mechanic that will be implemented, changing different stats on moves. Additionally, Pokemon will now be able to take several turns in a row depending on their stats.

The new open-world systems also allow the player to interact with the environment in new ways. Some Pokemon will be able to attack the player if they don't throw their Pokemon out for a battle.

The most powerful Pokemon of all time, Arceus, will also be a key element of the game. Pokemon Legends Arceus will also be unique in a way since its starters will be from different regions. Rowlet represents Alola, Cyndaquil is fom Jhoto, and Oshawott comes in from Unova.

As expected, another of the new features in Pokemon Legends Arceus is the new Pokemon. Growlithe and Stantler, both new Pokemon, will be Hisui region natives. Pokemon Legends Arceus releases on January 28, 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.
