The NFL Draft is just hours away, bringing with it a great deal of excitement and anticipation. Or, if you're Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, supreme confidence. Perhaps the most highly regarded cornerback prospect this spring, Gardner took a page out of the book of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James with his brash statement ahead of the draft, as reported by CBS Sports.
“I feel like I'm the chosen one,” Gardner said of overcoming adversity as a kid in Detroit and player at Cincinnati, per NJ.com. “I feel like I'm the best in the draft. There's no doubt about it. There's no way I can be a bust. That shouldn't even be an option.”
Echoing a line many have heard associated with LeBron James since he was a teenager, Gardner said “he feels like he's the chosen one” ahead of the NFL Draft. The Cincinnati star went on to say that being a bust “isn't even an option.”

Gardner, who was hardened by tough times growing up in Detroit, doesn't even consider failure an option for even a second. It's an attitude that James would be proud of- and that should endear him even more to teams ahead of the NFL Draft.
Gardner, who was named first-team All-AAC in all three college seasons, totaled 40 tackles, four passes defensed, three interceptions and three sacks this past season for the Bearcats. It's safe to say that many scouts agree with his own assessment that he's the “best in the draft.”
Sauce Gardner has something to prove ahead of the NFL Draft.
