Stephon Gilmore is the top cornerback remaining in the 2022 NFL free agency, and sure enough, he is not lacking suitors interested in his services.

Apparently, though, there are three teams who are considered favorites to land the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year. According to Connor Hughes of The Athletic, the New York Jets, San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders are heavily linked with the 31-year-old CB.

The Jets and 49ers are said to be the most interested, but the San Francisco franchise is reportedly hoping to land Gilmore for below what JC Jackson and Carlton Davis got. Jackson and Davis are the top cornerbacks in the 2022 NFL free agency, so it didn't come as a surprise they were quickly signed.

As reported earlier, Jackson got a five-year, $82.5 million deal with the Los Angeles Chargers, which translates to an average of $16.5 million per year. Meanwhile, Davis re-signed with Buccaneers on a three-year, $45 million deal.

It remains to be seen how much Stephon Gilmore could command, but if the Jets, 49ers and Raiders are really interested in getting him no matter what, a bidding war could bump his price even for a bit.

Of course his value is expected to be lower than Jackson and Davis, but teams shouldn't expect a steep discount given the scarcity of elite CBs available in the 2022 NFL free agency.
