Why The Vikings Could Cover The Spread
The Vikings could easily have a much better record, as nearly all of their losses were very close to being wins. Their offense is explosive, as Justin Jefferson and Dalvin Cook are two of the best home run hitters in the game. Kirk Cousins has been effective this season, especially of late. Minnesota's defense has been an issue as their last few games have all been shootouts. This is the style of play that has sort of lurked around this season for Minnesota, so we could be in store for a high scoring game on Monday night. Minnesota has one of the best passing offense but worst passing defenses. The Vikings are averaging 26 points per game and allowing 25 points to their opponents. They are averaging 400 yards of offense, and their defense is allowing opponents around the same number.
This could be another up and down affair as that is seemingly the only type of game the Vikings are capable of playing in at the moment. Minnesota is 2-5 on the road and 7-6 against the spread overall this season.
Why The Bears Could Cover The Spread
Chicago has chance to hang in this one to be sure. The Vikings just lost to the Detroit Lions on the road two weeks ago. Their defense is very bad, and Chicago should be able to move the ball on them through the air and on the ground. Turnovers could be what decides this one, as the Bears should be able to go up and down the field on the Minnesota defense as teams have all season long. The Bears getting points at home in a night game is an appealing play in this spot.
Justin Fields has been a solid dual threat for the Bears at times this season, so if Chicago can establish a ground game he may be able to make plays down the field vs. a struggling Vikings defense. Chicago on the other hand still has a pretty decent defensive unit, holding opponents to just 237 passing yards per game. Chicago is 2-4 at home and 4-9 vs. the spread this season.
Final Vikings-Bears Prediction & Pick
Take the Bears and the points here. The Vikings should probably win this game, but their defense is so bad. Chicago should be able to put up points and hang right in this division battle.
Final Vikings-Bears prediction & pick: Bears +6 (-110)
