The Co-Main Event at UFC Atlanta is finally here as we bring you a betting prediction and pick for this ranked bout in the Women's Flyweight (125) Division. Rose Namajunas (13-7) has gone 11-6 during her career since 2014 and en route to becoming former champion. She's gone 2-2 since losing her belt to Carla Esparza, but hopes to bounce back from a tough performance against Erin Blanchfield. Namajunas stands 5-foot-5 with a 65-inch reach.

Miranda Maverick (15-5) has gone 8-3 inside the UFC since 2020. Always a consistent presence within her division, Maverick is on her longest winning streak in the UFC at four fights. This will undoubtedly be her toughest test as she comes in the betting underdog. Maverick stands 5-foot-3 with a 65.5-inch reach.

Why Rose Namajunas Will Win

Rose Namajunas hasn't quite looked like herself during her last two losses as much of that came from her starting the fight slow and never settling into a rhythm. Stylistically, she's one of the more consistent and technical strikers on the women's roster, but it's always a matter of settling into a comfortable groove and finding a home in her jab. Movement will be key once again and she'll have the advantage over Maverick with her lands.

Namajunas' leg kicks will also be a big tool throughout this fight in deterring Maverick from closing the distance. Her head kicks have been dangerous in the past and against a straight-up fighter like Maverick, she could find several openings to exploit the stance and land clean on her opponent.

Rose Namajunas will have to remain in perpetual movement and avoid tying up with Maverick during this fight. Maverick is much stronger physically and could stifle Namajunas if she's able to wrap her up and hang on her in top position. Look for Namajunas to have to utilize her legs in getting to her feet or trying for submissions.

Why Miranda Maverick Will Win

Miranda Maverick has been on a tear up to this point with four consecutive wins, one of which was an armbar while the other three unanimous decisions. She's not the biggest threat to knock her opponents out, but she's wildly consistent and you know exactly what you'll get out of her each time. While this may make it easy to game plan against her, her strength and determination help her get the job done anyway.

Maverick owns seven of her pro wins by submission thanks to her crazy physical strength. She's a specimen for this division and once she puts the squeeze on an opponent, it's hard to imagine her not winning the bout. While Namajunas is crafty with her submission attempts, Maverick could stand to see success if she can find top position.

Maverick should waste no time in closing the distance against Namajunas to avoid a striking affair at a safe range. Namajunas is at her best when she's able to pick and pop her shots while moving out of range, so Maverick should put the pressure on and make things uncomfortable for her opponent from the start.

Final Rose Namajunas-Miranda Maverick Prediction & Pick

This Co-Main Event will be very interesting thanks to the differing styles of both fighters. Rose Namajunas is much more talented when it comes to her kickboxing and would like to land clean exchanges on the feet. Miranda Maverick, on the other hand, is a smothering grappler and if looking to lock her opponents up on the ground.

Rose Namajunas sports a 61% takedown defense and I think her ability to move through the wrestling scrambles will be her biggest strength during this fight. However, I certainly envision a fight where Maverick rushes for failed takedowns and spends a ton of time pushing Namajunas against the fence. Maverick's strength will be her biggest asset during this fight and I think she fully knows that.

While we'll side with Rose Namajunas to figure things out on the feet and win the fight, it certainly wouldn't be a bad bet to look at Miranda Maverick to win by decision. In this case, I think Namajunas will just be too active.
