Former Denver Broncos running back C.J. Anderson was one of the best players on the market still left over from NFL free agency. However, that has changed after signing a one-year deal with the Carolina Panthers.

There had been plenty of speculation regarding Anderson's impending future in Denver. Now that he has signed with Carolina, he is glad to have the opportunity to prove himself once again, according to Bryan Strickland of the team's official website:

“I've always been overlooked. I've always been doubted. Even still,” Anderson said. “But the simple fact is that I have an opportunity to play here, an opportunity to win another championship and do something I love to do. I'm excited about that.”

Denver underwent a major overhaul of their roster this offseason. However, it as still a bit surprising to see Anderson was among those to go after coming off the best year of his career.

It is no secret that the Broncos offense last season was nothing short of mediocre. Yet, Anderson still managed to record his first 1,000-yard campaign. He also tacked on 28 receptions for 224 yards and four total touchdowns on the year. That said, he should serve as a nice compliment to running back Christian McCaffrey next season.

Whereas Anderson has shown his ability to run in between the tackles, McCaffrey has mostly been utilized on third downs in passing situations. If Carolina can make improvements to their offense, they may be able to take full advantage of their new one-two punch in the backfield.
