The Cleveland Browns shockingly went in a completely different direction at the quarterback spot when they traded for former Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson, effectively signaling the end of the Baker Mayfield era. Mayfield, who was blindsided by the move for Watson, spoke out about his situation, making it known that he felt “disrespected.” Browns general manager Andrew Berry was asked about Mayfield's comments and offered a response that's very difficult to believe, per Pro Football Talk.

“I think I’ve touched on this previously, that we were transparent with our intentions with [Mayfield’s] reps,” Berry said. “Now, that being said, I think we can all understand how Baker feels. And sometimes things in the NFL — whether it’s team-related, coach-related, player-related — they may not work out. And Baker’s a competitive and driven young man who’s had success as a quarterback and will continue to have success as a quarterback. So, definitely understand it.

Berry said that the Browns were “transparent with Mayfield's reps” and that they “understand how Baker feels.” Someone check to see if Berry's pants are on fire because that is almost certainly a lie.

The Browns were anything but transparent with Mayfield, as they conveniently didn't inform his camp that a Watson trade was a possibility.

Quite frankly, there's no way Berry and the Browns understand how Mayfield feels. He basically fought through a shoulder injury all year that he really had no business playing through, only to get healthy and find out that the team was sneakily searching for his replacement.

Mayfield has every right to be disrespected. It's even more disrespectful that the Browns are acting like they know how he feels.
