Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was really hoping that he would clear COVID-19 protocols before the team's game on Monday against the Las Vegas Raiders but unfortunately, that didn't happen. Instead, third-stringer Nick Mullens will start.

Mayfield's wife, Emily, took to social media to share her opinion on the situation:

That's good to know the Browns star is feeling in tip-top shape. Unfortunately, there were still some antibodies in his system. However, we know that Mayfield has been dealing with numerous injuries this season and this is a good opportunity for him to regroup and heal up a bit, even though it's likely killing him to watch from home.

The Browns are severely depleted heading into this matchup with Las Vegas, missing other key weapons such as Kareem Hunt and Jarvis Landry, among others. Mullens also hasn't taken a single snap for Cleveland this season. But, if he can somehow lead the Browns to a much-needed victory, it would put them at the top of the AFC North with an 8-6 record after they beat the Baltimore Ravens in Week 14, who are currently in first.

Mayfield will have a tall task ahead when he does return though, with Cleveland set to take on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers on Christmas Day at Lambeau Field.
