The Cleveland Browns are interested in signing Case Keenum in free agency, according to Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The potential match certainly makes sense, as new Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski was Keenam's offensive coordinator during his career year with the Minnesota Vikings in 2017.

It should be noted that Cleveland is viewing Keenum as a backup to Baker Mayfield.

Keenum spent the 2019 campaign with the Washington Redskins, playing in 10 games and making eight starts. During his time on the field, he threw for 1,707 yards, 11 touchdowns and five interceptions while completing 64.8 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 91.3.

The 32-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Houston, went undrafted but eventually landed with the Houston Texans in 2012.

He made 10 starts for the Texans between 2013 and 2014, totaling 11 touchdowns and eight picks. He then made 14 starts for the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams in 2015 and 2016, accumulating 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Keenum made his way to the Vikings in 2017 and stepped in for an injured Sam Bradford, making 15 appearances and 14 starts and throwing for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven picks while completing 67.6 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 98.3. He even took Minnesota all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

That ensuing offseason, Keenum signed with the Denver Broncos and started all 16 games in 2018, but did not achieve nearly the same success, finishing with 3,890 yards, 18 touchdowns and 15 picks.

He was then traded to the Redskins last March.

While Keenum may be a quarterback you want as your starter, he is certainly a capable backup and would provide some fine insurance for the Browns.
