The Browns are in need of another playmaker outside with the uncertainty of what is going on with Josh Gordon. He hasn't been in training camp dealing with personal issues, and the Browns and Gordon have been pretty quiet on when he will return to the team.
The Browns have stated publically they wanted a meeting with Bryant for weeks but it wasn't until last Thursday that Bryant finally returned some phone calls to get this meeting set up.
Browns players have been excited about Bryant coming in for a visit including wide receiver Jarvis Landry who says he would welcome him to the team. The two are already good friends, but he would love the chance for them to be teammates.
“If he wants to be here, then obviously we're open arms and we'd love to have him,” Landry said via ESPN. “He'd be a great addition to our team and our offense — for sure.”
Landry thinks the biggest thing that Bryant would bring to the team would be an attitude and an ability to go up and catch the ball.
“Attitude,” Landry said when asked what Bryant could bring to the Browns. “Obviously, effort. You look at the plays he's making down the field, underneath. He can really do it all — given the opportunities. I think Coach Haley would do a great job of getting him the ball if he was here, but if not, then we got guys who can make plays too.”
It's unclear if it's a slam dunk for the two sides to get the sides down but come Thursday it should be a much clearer picture.
