The Kansas City Chiefs scored an impressive victory on Sunday over Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 27-24. Chiefs wide receiver Tryeek Hill came up with a huge performance for the defending champs against the Bucs, and the 26-year-old's domination prompted some praise from Kansas City superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes shared his thoughts on why he believes Hill was able to outplay Tampa Bay's defense on the evening:
“I don't think it was necessarily [about] a matchup,” Mahomes said, via Adam Teicher of ESPN. “It was man coverage with no one over the top. We don't get that a lot, especially with [Hill] and his ability, and whenever we do, we try to take advantage of it.”
Tyreek Hill caught 13-of-15 targets on Sunday for a 269-yard gain, while also scoring three touchdowns. Simply put, the Bucs' defense just had no answer for the former West Alabama standout on Sunday.
Patrick Mahomes had a pretty awesome game himself, too, logging his fifth career 400-yard outing against Tampa Bay. The reigning Super Bowl MVP completed 37-of-49 passes for a 462-yard gain, to go along with three touchdowns. Unsurprisingly, all three of Mahomes' TD's came courtesy of Tyreek Hill, as this duo once again proved that they are one of the most dominant pairings in the NFL today.
The Chiefs improve to 10-1 after defeating the Bucs, as they continue to strengthen their grip at the top spot in the AFC West.
