The Kansas City Chiefs are in the midst of a COVID-19 outbreak that has been described as a “mess,” according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. The latest Chiefs news saw a trio of players, headlined by star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, get placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list.

This comes on the heels of the Chiefs placing tight end Travis Kelce on the Reserve list, meaning KC is down its two strongest receiving threats as of now.

The team placed Kelce, kicker Harrison Butker, and CB Charvarius Ward on the Reserve list on Monday. As Schefter noted, the team is expecting other players to be placed on the COVID list, as the team is being hit hard by the latest outbreak of the virus.
The Chiefs are scheduled to host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday for their Week 16 matchup, so any vaccinated players will have some time to test out of the league's protocols, which require two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. However, having this many players out with the virus, and expecting even more to follow suit, is a truly concerning sign for the organization.
With the Chiefs aiming to extend their current winning streak to eight games, they may be forced to do so without some key players at their disposal. Further updates later in the week will be crucial in determining who will be able to suit up, and who won't.
