Russell Wilson's strong start to the season now seems like a lifetime away. Over the past few weeks, the Seattle Seahawks superstar quarterback has seen a dip in his on-field performances, and as a result, he is no longer the odds-on favorite to bag the season's MVP award.

The 31-year-old QB has now been overtaken by another premier quarterback: none other than Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.

Mike Florio of NBC Sports details the recent shift in the odds:

Via PointsBet, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has overtaken Wilson as the favorite for the regular-season MVP award. Mahomes currently has +180 odds, meaning that a $100 bet will win $180. Wilson has moved to +225.

Next comes Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers at +300, followed by Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, at +700.

This makes a lot of sense considering how Russell Wilson has committed no less than 10 turnovers in the Seahawks' past four contest. It comes to no surprise that Seattle has lost three of their last four games.

On the contrary, Mahomes and Kansas City has been killing it of late. The 8-1 Chiefs have logged four straight wins, and this has been thanks in large part to Mahomes' tremendous play. The Chiefs are coming off their bye week, following their 33-31 Week 9 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Mahomes completed 30-of-45 passes in that one for 372 yards, while also logging four touchdowns.

The reigning Super Bowl MVP has now scored on 27 touchdowns against just two turnovers. Needless to say, Mahomes absolutely deserves to be the frontrunner for the season's MVP award.
