Per the Minnesota Vikings' official Twitter account, head coach Mike Zimmer has officially named Case Keenum as the team's starting quarterback for this Sunday's game agains the Los Angeles Rams.
There had been speculation that Teddy Bridgewater, who was recently activated after his inspiring recovery from a major knee injury, would get the nod ahead of Keenum despite the team reeling off five straight wins behind some big performances by the journeyman QB out of Houston.
Still, it seems like only a matter of time until Bridgewater, who led the Vikings to a 11-5 record and an NFC North crown in 2015, returns under center for Minnesota. For now, Teddy will remain as the team's backup, so it's still possible he could see some action Sunday if Keenum struggles or goes down with an injury.
Article Continues BelowDuring an interview on the Dan Patrick show on Tuesday, Keenum wouldn't call facing the Rams a revenge game, but he did make it clear that he's excited to face his former teammates.
Keenum is currently enjoying the most productive season of his career. He's sporting a 5-2 record with career-highs in touchdowns and QB rating at 11 and 92.6, respectively.
Before being benched in favor of Jared Goff last season, Keenum went 4-5 with nine touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a QB rating of 76.4 for the Rams. Both Goff and Keenum have experienced tremendous upticks in performance this year in offense's not overseen by Jeff Fisher.
