While many are happy for Philip Rivers after he got signed by the Indianapolis Colts, one guy is not feeling it: Cam Newton.

The 44-year-old Rivers made a surprising return after the Colts' quarterback lineup got decimated by injuries. Daniel Jones is out for the season with a torn Achilles, while Anthony Richardson and Riley Leonard are dealing with an eye issue and a bothersome knee, respectively.

Newton, however, isn't too convinced that Rivers can still make an impact. He was in disbelief that Rivers got a call-up instead of him, saying it was “like a slap to the face.”

“Did Philip Rivers send any type of signs that he was available?” asked Newton on the latest episode of his online show.

The former MVP pointed out that he has been constantly working out, flexing his videos on Snapchat. He added that he hasn't even retired, unlike Rivers, who called it quits in 2021.

“I did not and will not (retire). Because of an opportunity like this!” said the 36-year-old Newton.

“I don't give a damn if he (Rivers) was in their family. He's 44 years old, bro! How come you keep holding Cam Newton to a standard that you're not holding everybody else to?”

Newton also last played in the NFL in 2021. In eight games in his second stint with the Carolina Panthers, he tallied a completion rate of 54.8%, throwing for 684 yards, four touchdowns, and five interceptions.

The three-time Pro Bowler admitted that teams might not want to touch him anymore because of his brash personality, adding that “they don't want a circus.”

Rivers could start for the Colts on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
