A report, as well as visual evidence, came out this week that someone used a laser pointer to flash New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the face. The Patriots were taking on the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC championship game, eventually winning in overtime by a score of 37-31.

This has been a problem before for other teams. A Detroit Lions season ticket holder was heavily fined and sentenced to community service five years ago during a game against the Buffalo Bills for a similar offense. The Lions organization took his tomfoolery extremely serious and revoked his season tickets as well.

Using a laser pointer in any public situation is just terrible behavior. Hopefully, whoever was trying to blind Brady will be found and put to justice.

During a conference call on Tuesday, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was asked about the situation. In his typical fashion, he didn't put much regard into the sentiment and quickly moved on.

Bellichek told NBC Sports:

“Yeah, right now we’re really focused on getting ready for the Rams, so that’s what I’m working on.”

The Patriots are focused on their upcoming matchup against the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl 53. The Sean McVay-led Rams beat the New Orleans Saints by a score of 26-23 in the NFC championship game. They went 13-3 during the regular season, proving their that their modern offensive system and pass rush are just hard to get by.

The Patriots once again look forward to this matchup themselves. They will play Sunday, February 3rd at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
