Mark probably should have remained in bed on this particular day.
TMZ did it again pertaining to Mark Wahlberg (stopping him dead in his tracks to ask him about Boston sports). Usually, Wahlberg's semi-insight is enough to get him by. On this day, he was Boston-arrogant while providing the strangest, weirdest prediction.
The artist formerly known as Marky Mark is predicting young Baker Mayfield will be the quarterback who replaces Tom Brady.
Rob Gronkowski is back at practice, Julian Edelman has been “wrongly accused,” and Baker Mayfield will eventually head off for New England to replace the immortal Tom Brady.
Wait, what?
Article Continues BelowWhile it's completely foolish to claim at the moment—considering the kid is a No. 1 overall pick readying for his rookie year with the Cleveland Browns—think about it from a Wahlberg/Patriots fan point of view.
These fans are spoiled. The world has been their oyster for so long that even the craziest of predictions go down. Brady has (if we listen to him) several years left in him. Mayfield is on a four or five-year rookie deal with Cleveland. Should Mayfield struggle with a franchise that never seems to showcase non-struggling quarterbacks, the timing of when his contract expires and when Brady retires is spot-on.
This is probably Wahlberg's thinking.
Still, Mark, my guy … you should have remained in bed on this particular day. One day soon, this “spoiled” Patriots run will run its course and bold predictions like this will have to be tempered.
