Signs are pointing towards DeSean Jackson being released or traded by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but if he gets his choice it will be a trade to the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to Jenna Laine and Tim McManus of ESPN, the Buccaneers are trying to find a trading partner for Jackson and not only does he want to end up in Philadelphia, but the Eagles also have interest in bringing him back.
The Eagles brought in Mike Wallace last season to provide a deep threat for Carson Wentz, but he broke his leg in Week 2 and the team desperately needs a guy to fill that role.
The big question is, will the Eagles try to trade for Jackson, or would they wait for him to be released and try to acquire his services then.
Jackson is set to earn $10 million this year, but none of that is guaranteed so it makes sense that Jackson hopes that a trade happens rather than the team just releasing him. The Bucs don't have a ton of cap space right now, and releasing him or trading him would help increase the $3.5 million they currently have.
Returning to Philadelphia would be a homecoming for Jackson, who was a second-round pick by the team in 2008. He spent the first six seasons of his career in Philadelphia, where he was one of the most dynamic receivers in the league. He played 87 games with the Eagles, catching 356 balls for 6,117 yards and 32 touchdowns. His average catch was 17.2 yards which is a bit lower than his career total of 17.4.
