The Philadelphia Eagles are back in the Super Bowl for the first time since 2004 with another matchup against the New England Patriots, and head coach Doug Pederson is dialed in.
Much has changed in the years following their first bout in the big game, but the Patriots have remained the league's most successful franchises, playing in their fifth Super Bowl since that initial matchup. However, Pederson is hoping that his team can look past New England's legacy and focus on the task at hand on February 4th, according to Tim McManus of ESPN.
“That's obviously a real question. That's a real issue that you have,” he said. “These guys have been there. They've done it. They've proven it time and time again. It is quite difficult to simply set aside the Patriots' success in the 13 seasons after their Super Bowl XXXIX victory over the Eagles. During that span, they've won 12 AFC East division titles, appeared in nine AFC Championship Game appearances, and have put together 13 straight double-digit win seasons. This all presents a daunting assignment for the Eagles against arguably the most well-run organization in the league.

Still, the Eagles have been equally impressive this season, locking up the best record in the NFC before reaching the Super Bowl without the services of their MVP-caliber quarterback Carson Wentz. Nick Foles has stepped up in his absence, putting together a masterful performance in the NFC Championship game by completing 26-of-33 passes for 352 yards and three touchdown passes while holding a 141.4 passer rating.
Philadelphia has the pieces to get the job done in Super Bowl LII against the Patriots, which should make way for an entertaining contest between two of the league's best teams.
