The Philadelphia Eagles are set to take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their Wild Card Weekend matchup. The unlikely playoff-contending team is led by first-season starting quarterback Jalen Hurts and first-season head coach Nick Sirianni.

The rookie head coach provided an update on his quarterback ahead of their first playoff appearance in Tampa Bay.

“Jalen's feeling pretty good,” Sirianni said. He also noted the Eagles' Week 18 game, saying that Hurts benefitted from sitting out of the game to continue his ankle recovery. The Eagles limited time for some starters and completely rested others during the Saturday night game. Backup quarterback Gardner Minshew took the field, giving him his second start of the season. The season finale, although it didn't mean much for either team, ended up being a 51-26 loss against the Dallas Cowboys.

Hurts suffered an ankle injury in the Eagles' Week 12 loss to the New York Giants. Since then, he has had plenty of time to both rest and perform to recover. It hasn't been a huge deal for the Birds' quarterback recently, but this injury has lingered into the postseason. Fortunately, things appear to be going in the right direction, and Hurts should be back to his full mobile-quarterback self in no time.

If the Eagles can come out of their Wild Card Weekend victorious, the underdogs will take on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
