Despite winning, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasn’t happy, and D.J. Metcalf taunted the Vikings. Furthermore, Rodgers called out ESPN for a “clickbait headline” about the Steelers' Ireland trip.
Rodgers tried to clarify his comments, according to a post on X by Brooke Pryor.
“Aaron Rodgers' full comments clarifying that he wasn't upset with the Steelers coming over on Friday before the game, only that he wished he could've spent longer than a couple days in a different country during one of his three career international games.”
Here is the headline Rodgers got so torn up about, according to ESPN.
“Aaron Rodgers wishes Steelers had traveled to Ireland sooner”
Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers feuding with ESPN
Was that headline clickbait? It almost seems more like anti-clickbait, unless you’re a big fan of travel shows or something. Lol. NBC Sports didn't seem to think so.
“But was it really a clickbait headline?” Mike Florio wrote. “Aaron Rodgers wishes Steelers had traveled to Ireland sooner.” was the title to the article. And here’s what he said on Friday: “It is what it is, but if the schedule had been a little different, if I could have chosen it, maybe we get over on Monday; Tuesday is the day off. Good to get out, see some things. It’s a beautiful country, it seems like, from pictures.
“Regardless, Aaron Rodgers wanted to go to Ireland earlier,” Florio continued. “And Aaron Rodgers isn’t happy that people noticed his words and repeated them. Which definitely isn’t the first time.”
Surely, Rodgers has better things to do than read headlines on ESPN. Especially headlines about trips to Ireland. Right?
As for football, the Steelers held on for a 24-21 victory over the Vikings in the game played in Ireland on Sunday.
Backup running back Kenneth Gainwell did his part. He rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Also, Rodgers connected with Metcalf on an 80-yard touchdown.
