Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown hasn't performed like the game's best this year, but Ben Roethlisberger is taking the blame.
Brown has caught 29 passes for 272 yards and three touchdowns, which is a low point for him. The season is a quarter of the way through. Brown usually has at least 400 receiving yards by now. Roethlisberger says he needs to do a better job of getting the ball in his favorite target's hands.
“I just think I’ve got to play better to (Brown) get his numbers,” Roethlisberger told TribLive.com on Wednesday, “which I think in turn will help us get wins.”
Ben Roethlisberger has thrown for 1,414 yards this season, ranking him first in the NFL. He's throwing the ball more than ever, but he hasn't been able to find a rhythm with Antonio Brown. Although, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin is confident the two of them can rediscover their rhythm after a bit of a rocky start.
Article Continues BelowIn the meantime, second-year receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster has flourished this season. Smith-Schuster has eclipsed 100 receiving yards in three of the team's four games. His 31 receptions and 416 receiving yards lead the team.
Maybe, teams have finally figured out a way to contain Brown. Perhaps, the focus on him is too great while the absence of Le'Veon Bell is a factor. Either way, the Steelers need change. Now.
“So I think it really just all comes down to me getting the ball to them when they are down the field” said Roethlisberger.
It's easier said than done, but he'll try to make something happen against the Atlants Falcons in Week 5.
