The Pittsburgh Steelers are heading into the 2018 NFL season on a mission. Mike Tomlin and company are trying to make up for falling short last season in the playoffs with star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger going with a different approach this year.

Roethlisberger is focused on his long-term future at this point in his NFL career. The two-time Super Bowl champion is changed his diet and is ready to see the perks on the field. Tomlin recently praised Roethlisberger's offseason effort and how it may impact the team during the 2018 campaign, via Jeff Hartman of Behind The Steel Curtain.

“We always say physical conditioning precedes anything else. So when a guy shows up in great shape, that’s often a springboard for big-time play.”

Roethlisberger talked about the benefits of his weight loss thus far. The star quarterback emphasized not having as much stress on his knees, via Hartman.

“My knees, ankles…just being lighter. Those are all positives when it comes to playing this game at this age. Football is a sport where you are always pounding on your knees. When you’ve already had a couple knee surgeries, anything you can do to lighten the load on your knees and ankles is important,” Roethlisberger added.

This season will be an interesting one for the Steelers as it could be the last with superstar running back Le'Veon Bell coming out of the backfield. Pittsburgh is arguably the most dynamic offense in the league with Bell, Roethlisberger, and Antonio Bell giving them a type of three-headed monster.

If Roethlisberger can turn back the clock while the team takes advantage of what could potentially be Bell's last season with the team and Brown still very much in his prime, the Steelers could make a serious run at a Super Bowl title.
