Things have gotten worse for Washington Redskins wide receiver Terrell Pryor. Pryor, who had previously converted from quarterback to a wideout, went under the knife Monday for an arthroscopic ankle surgery, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The said procedure has also forced the Redskins to put Pryor on the injury reserve list, essentially signaling the end of the season for the five-year veteran.

It could also mean that Pryor has already played his last game in Redskins uniform. Pryor is scheduled to become a free agent at the end of the season. He signed a one-year $6 million deal with Washington back in March after a 1,000-yard season with the Cleveland Browns.

Earlier this season, it was reported that the Browns actually tried to trade back for the receiver after letting him walk in free agency. Obviously, that never happened, but it did highlight some Cleveland front-office issues.

His stint with the Redskins hasn’t been exactly what he had in mind when he inked the contract. Pryor was expected by many to play a significant role as one of quarterback Kirk Cousins’ aide downfield, but the former Ohio State Buckeye has caught just nine passes for 240 yards with a touchdown across nine games.

Pryor could blame his nagging ankle pain for his regression, but it won’t change the fact that he’s been leapfrogged by Josh Doctson, Jamison Crowder, and Ryan Grant in the Redskins’ passing attack.

If anything, his ankle troubles could impact his negotiation for a new contract in free agency.
