Despite his short rookie year, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson established himself as one of the most promising young players in the NFL. Even Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has confirmed as much going into the 2018 NFL season.

Watson's playmaking ability has drawn comparisons to the likes of Rodgers. The Packers' star gunslinger praised the young quarterback while offering him some advice on what to expect in year two, according to the Greenville News, via the Texans’ official website:

“He did some amazing things,” Rodgers said. “Obviously he’s extremely gifted athletically and can throw all over the field. That gives him a lot of different weapons to use in that offense.”

“As he’ll find out, the second year is maybe the toughest year for a quarterback because you have an entire offseason for teams — especially teams in your division — to study you,” Rodgers said. “It makes things a little harder. I played pretty decent my first year and came back in ’09 and was seeing some different looks because there’s a lot more film on you.”

Needless to say, earning the praise of arguably the best quarterback in the NFL is certainly no small achievement. It is clear that Rodgers has become a big fan of Watson's game. It could largely be due to the many traits they shared to start their careers.

Despite being largely overlooked in the draft, he wound up proving to be perhaps its biggest steal after one year. The former 12th overall pick threw for 1,699 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in seven games. He also rushed for 269 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie campaign.

That said, he will no longer be sneaking up on any teams from here on out. His versatile skill set will likely make him the subject of defensive game plans moving forward.
