Houston Texans quarterback Tom Savage isn't likely on a lot of fantasy football teams. Not only is the veteran gunslinger not exactly locked in as an every week starter, but his numbers leave a lot to be desired. He's also a bit turnover prone.
According to Tom Savage, he's not actually turnover prone, though.
Article Continues BelowSavage said he doesn't know where all the fumbles are coming from, because “I've never been a fumbler in my life.”
“It's tough, and it's an interesting deal because a lot of times you're about to throw the ball and you have one hand on the ball and some guy comes in and strips it,” Savage said. “But I think it's more just the overall pocket presence and knowing when the play is done. I think it's going to come with experience and just being out there.”
Interesting … if interesting meant that a guy is lacking awareness.
“He's (Savage) frustrated as much as anybody else,” Texans quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan said. “He realizes we can't turn the ball over. We were very fortunate last week that we got away with it, but we know that. You can't turn it over, he's aware of it.
“You just continually preach it, you talk about two hands on the ball, you point it out every example you can throughout a practice and then you try to incorporate that into every drill that you do.”
In only 5.5 games this season, Savage leads the NFL with six lost fumbles. So much for not being turnover prone.
