Jonathan Toews doesn't usually get into fights, but when he does, it certainly deserves attention. Unfortunately for the Chicago Blackhawks captain, his scuffle with Zach Sanford of the Ottawa Senators Saturday night ended with him getting dropped on the ice after taking a nasty straight to the face.

Nevertheless, Toews should get some points for what seems to be a respectable effort. He did not really embarrass himself out there. The legitimate concern should be on whether he was just alright after absorbing those hits to the head from a bigger guy.

Toews went after Sanford in the first period after seeing center Kirby Dach get hit. If anything, it should have been another Blackhawks player who should have gone after Sanford, considering Toews' injury history. Then again, Toews was not going to wait for anyone to respond.

According to Hockey Fights, the 33-year-old, that was only Toews' eighth fight in his legendary NHL career. Prior to that, the last time the Blackhawks superstar brawled on the ice was way back in 2018 against Ryan Kesler of the Anaheim Ducks.

Toews would later calm worried Blackhawks fans when he scored not one but two goals in the second period.

Toews and the Blackhawks will travel back to Windy City after the Senators game to face the Boston Bruins on Tuesday.
