After leading the Montreal Canadiens to an improbably Cinderella run in the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs, goalie Carey Price has been basically nonexistent on the ice this season. Price has yet to play in the 2021-22 NHL campaign, as he has dealt with injuries and also needed time away from the action to address a substance use issue.

Carey has been radio silent for the most part of the season but on Sunday, he talked to the media and expressed his thoughts on his future with the Canadiens.

Via The Athletic:

“Hopefully I'll keep on progressing and be back in uniform pretty soon. … It's part of my identity,” Price said.

He also adds:

“Me and my family are very happy here. We're settled in. This is our home,” Price said. “There's a reason I signed the contract I did here with a no-movement clause. As of right now, I have no plans to be anywhere else.”

Price inked a massive eight-year deal worth $84 million with the Canadiens back in 2017, and that's netted him an Annual Average Value of $10.5 million, a hefty one especially when considering that the future Hall of Famer is now 34.

Will Price be able to see action before the current season ends? That's one thing that is still up in the air.

“You never know. There's always a possibility,” Price said regarding the chance of him never being able to play again. “There's a lot going on over the next couple of weeks that will determine the rest of my season.”

In any case, The Carey Price Trade Watch could be picking up steam again with the deadline coming up in March.
